We made the drive to Alabama to check out the Kentuck Festival yesterday. Wow. What a beautiful fest, full of fun folk art of all sorts, nestled under tall pines in Kentuck Park, near Tuscaloosa, AL. Imagine the slight scent of fall campfires, slurping lemonade, wandering amidst a circus-worthy splay of art from all over the country, and kind folk behind it all. After the kettle corn afternoon snack, I was toast, took a nap under the trees, amidst the hum of happy art-lovers, and woke to sweet cajun music drifting downhill. Best bet - unique true folk art from the back yards of america's real people. Most unique treat - getting your Royale Corndog portrait drawn in Chris Antieu's "photobooth" - yourself, adorned with crown and corndog in hand. something to smile about.
