A tree painting about the family of New Orleans, for the new Anthropologie Store in New Orleans.I documented the creation of this painting from start to finish with some photos and video. The new Anthropologie Store in New Orleans is now open to the public. They are hosting grand opening events this weekend. The painting above was created for the store, and is available for purchase in the store as original artwork. It hangs behind the checkout counter on the first floor.

A List for Today

Just words. Just lovely.

Through six degrees of separation, I recently "met" this poet for hire out of San Francisco. Like a lovely magician of words tucked away on a ship called California, she awaits your purpose for poeming. You simply send her a few notes of your hearts desire, and for a small fee, she forms them into an arrangement, typed on real paper and sent to you (or your inspirer) via stamp and envelope like some anonymous clue tied to the foot of a coal-mining canary. On a whim, one inspired saturday evening, I took a little journey to The Poetry Store where I ordered my own bit of rhyme. I waited impatiently, checking the little box in the hallway each day, until there it was, post-stamped San Francisco, my own grouping of words on paper to consider, to marvel, to love. I will keep mine for the back pocket of my moleskin, but I share another of her poems with you here now. I feel the road-trip urge creeping in, so this one seemed timely.

My summer has been pleasantly occupied with a number of tree commissions for lovely and inspiring families. Here are two recent paintings. One was delivered to a growing young family in New Orleans, the other is destined for a lovable couple in Scotland. Big thanks to my customers for your faith and trust in my work. It is such a pleasure to become a part of your life story, and I do so with the utmost humble gratitude. Thank you for living the life worth remembering.
